The struggle within the heathcare system revolves aroound access to care in an effective and efficienct manner. To meet the halthcare needs of a a growing community, healthcare executives and clinical leaders must understand the improve the patients "overall hospital experience" from triage to admission to discharge. Overall patient flow should represent the healthare community's indicator in process and performance improvement initiatives. What better measure of performance than identifying and measuring a patient's hospital experience in both a subjective and objective manner.
I commend the initiatives of executive and clinical leadership with ISAI, and my sincere hope that the "welcome to the frontlines of change" will include those belonging to the frontline at the clinical, non-clinical, adminstrative and support levels. Innovation in those areas and the multidisciplinary approach, that they serve, can only enable clinical leadership to further promote healthcare innovations.
